March 26, 2010 - An area outside of Rogersville is being a little more careful about their water consumption after a chemical was found in area wells. T-C-E was first found in a well by Compass Plaza, then at the wells at Citizen's Bank and Jamestown Irrigation.
The Department of Natural Resources says the TCE in the water is below Federal Drinking Water Standards and is safe to drink. "Every individual needs to think about 'Am I more sensitive than the general public and if so, maybe I need to talk to my physician.' Generally speaking, it's considered safe to drink." said Cindy Davies. The Department of Natural Resources is going to do more testing on private wells in the area to see if they can find the source of the contamination.
