Pennsylvania plans public water for polluted homes

July 25, 2008 - Nearly five dozen East Rockhill Township homes would be connected to public water service as part of the state's plan to address decades-long water contamination caused by a probable cancer-causing chemical.

The state Department of Environmental Protection has proposed an estimated $440,000 public water line extension to properties near 1803 N. Fifth St., site of a former metal machining and fabrication company blamed in the 1980s for illegally discharging trichloroethylene, or TCE, into groundwater at its property.
