The EPA is testing soil in Mentor Marsh, Ohio for salt contamination of the 673-acre state preserve.
"The marsh has been adversely impacted by these salt discharges," said Ohio EPA spokesman Mike Settles, referring to salt contamination from the 1960s. "The marsh has had trouble maintaining its natural characteristics. We really need to get a better grasp on the extent of this problem."
