NJ Neighborhood near former munitions factory dealing with chemicals, declining home values

March 10, 2010- Families already reeling from news that their health might be imperiled by dangerous chemicals seeping from a defunct DuPont munitions factory may now have something else to worry about: declining property values in their Passaic County neighborhood.

House prices are dropping more in the neighborhood bordering the plant site in Pompton Lakes than in the rest of that borough and across the county, an analysis of sales data by The Record has found. Moreover, the number of home sales near the site has dropped significantly relative to other parts of town.
