It looks like a no-brainer, [apologies for the pun] but I suggested broad-spectrum test kits and an immediate sampling program for locals ... while officials grind away ...

"The state thought the inquiry was substantial enough to begin the first step of the process: gathering basic information on residents in the area who have had brain cancer. If the incidence rate is higher than expected, scientists might launch an investigation."

My quick nasty drawing on Google ...

Apologies for the drawing ... but this was a quick sketch ... A railroad ROW, seen as a white line thru the "swamp" may be funneling toxins w/ s.g. <1.0 directly to the cluster!

"A major facility for Pratt and Whitney, the aircraft and rocket engine company. This 7,000-acre installation is the company's principal military and space engine design, manufacture, test and repair facility, and has around 50 engine test stands. Major down-sizing in 1999 led to the closure of the military aircraft engine component of this facility, and the Palm Beach location is now known as the Space Propulsion Operations Headquarters. Pratt & Whitney is owned by United Technologies, of Hartford Connecticut."

This "major facility" has been in existence for a long time[?].

Hypothesis: Pollutants from Pratt jet and rocket burns, spills, etc. are the problem. Benzine, hydrazine, etc. are certainly logical culprits from conventional jet and rocket propulsion, but who knows what else is being tested there at a top secret facility? I personally know and have worked with several nuclear engineers who worked at the Innovative Nuclear Space Propulsion Institute [INSPI] at UF in Gainesville. I never asked where they did tests, but this Pratt facility seems logical ...

This email is seat of the pants common sense vs. science ... but if I get further "hard" data ... I'll keep you posted. Hopefully, local residents will listen to my friend [Murphy] and do tests and start collecting data ... and get results way before the "State" gets done and the Pratt experts prepare counter arguments, and there are public meetings for politicians to consider.

Common sense is good & I hate it when kids get brain cancer! [I am a parent to a survivor!]

P-W/UT MUST understand the decomposition products from their test facility and it must be in Fed docs.! This is a great application for the FOIA.

I hope this email gets circulated and that the locals will have the gumption to protect themselves.

Comments?

Phil Olin

It IS a no brainer; there is definitely a toxin out there. How it is getting to these kids and families but not others is the big question. I was told when I had my house built out here to be careful who drilled my well. I was told some folks had contracted a number of neurological illnessed after it was found their home well was not drilled properly. This could explain how toxins in the groundwater could get into drinking water. Are all these homes built by the same builder? - or contracting the same well drilling co.? I never let my family drink our home water after being told that. OTOH, I notice the cluster is not only near the old aerospace research facilites but also close to the FPL Substation. High voltage lines have a proven connection with childhood lymphomas. For these Acreage families, it seems they are sitting in the cancer risk trifecta box!

I live in the Acreage and some of the homes involved in the cluster are sitting right under the high voltage wires.
I never thought about P&W, but this area was sparsely populated 20 years ago and it is a common belief that there was chemical dumping into the major canals out here by local businesses, it could be done with little risk of getting caught.
I would like to know about the year the homes were built and who the builders were, maybe there is a correlation with the fill or building materials. Some of the water has been tested and reports say there was nothing found to be concerned about. The water table, though, has changed greatly out here in the last few years since the influx of homes. We used to have great water, but over the last few years we have had intermittent trouble with tannen and black stuff coming in throught the faucet. I think all these homes and wells to water the grass are sucking the water out of the ground at an accelerated rate bringing the water table down.

I think the ones with no brain are those responsible for approving the installation of 35 foot deep water wells. Does anyone else see this as a major problem here? 35 feet feet isn't a whole lot of dirt to filter contaminants. This is truly irresponsible. I pray for the youth of this community.

All I can do is pray. I pray for the families that are effected and I pray that no others become a victim. There is an answer and I believe the community needs to know the truth.

35 feet, my husband said our well is only 18-20 feet!

There are options available and I am willing to help anyone there.

As a community we could come together for two reasons.
1. To get answers about the water contamination and where it came from.
2. As an entreprenuer I am willing to work communitively with others to provide Pure and Safe drinking water to this area. If you are interested, please contact me.
Atmospheric Water Generators, such as the E-10 takes humidity out of the air, cleaning your room or office, then filtrates through 6 filters, 2UV light and 4 filters for UF, Membrane, Post and Pre Carbon.
You will be guarenteed for 5 Years on Parts and Labor to provide you with water for your entire family or business.
